I am Boas Schwarz, a Berlin-based documentary filmmaker and director of photography with much of my work focusing on nature-related topics. The films I work on delve beyond mere scientific exploration, seeking to unearth the poetry within the natural world. Over the last 15 years, I have worked on numerous documentaries all over the globe, collaborating with renowned clients like BBC, National Geographic, NDR, and Terra Mater.

 

I am specialised in working in rough and challenging terrains, such as the high Arctic, the Siberian taiga or the Berlin subway on Friday nights. I work either independently or in small, multi-skilled teams, where each crew member assumes diverse responsibilities.

 

Notably, films I worked on have garnered numerous awards, including a two-time win of the Deutscher Naturfilmpreis, recipient of a Panda award at Jackson Wild, Grand Prix at the Mountain Filmfestival Graz, and a nomination for the Deutsche Fernsehpreis in the category Best Documentary of the Year 2020.
